Shiatsu is a type of Japanese therapeutic massage developed in Japan, that has spread worldwide. The 1915 Japanese book, Shiatsu Rycho written by Tenpaku Tamai has become the first written mention of the modern Shiatsu. However, Tokujiro Namikoshi’s (1905-2000) followers consider him to become the founder of Shiatsu.
Shiatsu regulates your central nervous system and promotes restorative by stimulating chemical responses inside you. The therapeutic effect comes from the truth that Shiatsu triggers the discharge of hormones and the body chemicals essential to heal, to soothe, and also to make your mind and body perform optimally.
Shiatsu continues to be given official recognition by the EU Parliament also. It is among eight non-conventional, complementary medicine disciplines mentioned inside Collins Report, which has been adopted by the European Parliament in May 1997 (see references).
You will find 838 basic shiatsu pressure points, called Atten in Japanese. These points are available for the muscles, nerves, arteries and, lymph vessels, bones, and endocrine glands. Because therapy progresses, the therapist senses the fitness of our bodies, and applies suitable types of pressure. The cornerstone rule is that, tighter the muscles are, the lighter pressure. Because muscles relax, pressure becomes deeper however it is always firm and steady. Knuckles, fists, elbows, and knees should never be used after a Namikoshi Shiatsu Treatment while they lack the required sensitivity.
